Volunteer Opportunities

Wiley PTA programs and events would not be possible without the generous support of our volunteers. Your involvement greatly benefits our students and our school as a whole. It's also an excellent way to connect with other caregivers and strengthen our sense of community.

Critical volunteer needs to start the 2026-2027 school year are listed below. Please check back as needs change frequently throughout the school year. For more information or to indicate interest, please email Carie Chesarino at treasurer@wileypta.org.

Wiley Summer Garden Watering

The Gardens & Grounds Committee needs volunteers to tend the vegetable gardens near the kindergarten classrooms over the summer. If you can help out, please sign up here. This committee is led by Natalie Carmen, who can be reached at gardens.grounds@wileypta.org.

Family Engagement Committee members

The Family Engagement Committee fosters connection by building and enhancing bonds within our Wiley Community. Over the summer, the committee organizes three summer play dates at local playgrounds. Shortly after the beginning of the year, the committee conducts a PTA membership drive. The committee also organizes and hosts casual caregiver meetups throughout the school year.

Cultural Arts Chair

The Cultural Arts Chair helps select and engage guest speakers, artists in residence, and others to support Wiley's teachers, staff, and magnet theme. The Cultural Arts Chair attends a United Arts Council virtual training session (July 30, August 1, or August 5) the WCPSS cultural arts fair (August 8, 2026), applies for the UAC grant to fund events (beginning of September), and identifies and contracts with groups that provide cultural arts activities for our students.

Fall Festival Chair

The Fall Festival typically occurs on the Wiley cafeteria lawn on a Thursday evening in October. The Fall Festival Chair leads the committee responsible for producing the event. Responsibilities include: securing and managing vendors including food trucks and entertainment; enlisting volunteers; ensuring programming supports Wiley’s magnet theme; working with teachers and staff to coordinate student participation as appropriate.
